The Lizard King

One of the most important artistical phonomenon of the 70's , The Doors was founded in 1965 after a UCLA student's meeting. James Douglas Morrison , John Densmore ,Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek quickly took over the spotlight in America's psychedelic rock billboards. In this formula, they begun to perform in numerous clubs, starting with London Fog on Sunset Strip(well-known area in western L.A. famous for the night life).
The band took its name after a a book written by Aldous Huxley called 'The doors of perception', which was also inspired from the lyrics of the 18th century poet,William Blake :
"If the doors of perception were cleansed , every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite."
The central and the most controversial band member, Jim Morrison forced the ownsers of the Wiskey Go-Go night club to ban them after an excentric performance of 'The end'. But that event only added to his allready notorious bad-boy image and helped him become a major US sex-symbol.
For the fans of 'The Doors' , their lyrics were full of social, psycological and political references, written by no other than The Lizard King, Jim Morrison.
In 1971, after recording 'LA Woman' , Morrison decided to take a break and moved to Paris, where he died in misterious circumstances on the third of july. Found in the bath tub of his apartment, it was concluded that a heart attack was the most likely cause of his early decease, although an autopsy was never performed.

“People are afraid of themselves, of their own reality; their feelings most of all. People talk about how great love is, but that's bullshit. Love hurts. Feelings are disturbing. People are taught that pain is evil and dangerous. How can they deal with love if they're afraid to feel? Pain is meant to wake us up. People try to hide their pain. But they're wrong. Pain is something to carry, like a radio. You feel your strength in the experience of pain. It's all in how you carry it. That's what matters. Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you. Your own reality. If you feel ashamed of them, and hide them, you're letting society destroy your reality. You should stand up for your right to feel your pain.”
